interior scenes

In 2020, we – from MusA’s education staff – are presented with a significant challenge: to propose a virtual exhibition that could spark debates about such an unprecedented and delicate moment we have been living, nowadays. With the exhibition spaces closed, we understand that it is necessary to transpose the museum’s physical barriers to reach people’s homes. This way, we bring the “isolation” and “social distancing” situations aroused by the COVID-19 pandemic as a theme. From our selection, we would like to prompt debates and reflections about this context.
The paintings, photographs, prints, and drawings here selected have colors, lines, shapes, and evoke sensations and feelings through situations that seek to stimulate people’s affective memory.
To read an image is an exciting and fun exercise. It is looking for relations. It is finding identities from an image hitherto unknown, thus proposing a parallel between individual and collective memory. Here, the MusA’s collection is the backdrop of the story that the exhibition intends to tell, whose protagonist is each visitor who “embarks” this brief narrative.
The selected artworks display commonplace objects, portraits, games, dream scenes as well as everyday scenes. They invite viewers to take a closer look at each work so that the untold story that every image carries within becomes unveiled.
